Hello Winter and some updates

#optical #barbiepink #glasses #eyewear #opticalboutique #eyewearwardrobe

I’m excited that winter has finally arrived!  Or the closest thing to the start of winter that we are going to get.

We have many exciting things going on in the office.  The first one is that we are looking towards a name change in the near future. I mentioned it before but we are waiting on the official green light that the name we want is available.  The transition will happen slowly over the course of the next year and we will rebrand as BrightSide Optical if all goes well.  It’s a much easier name to remember.

I also feel it conveys our focus, the optical, much more clearly than our current name.

This coming Wednesday-Friday, I, Dr. Elizondo, will be out of town at a business conference in Park City, Utah.  The practice will still be open and this would be the perfect time to pop in the optical since there is no patient schedule running.

I’ll be learning how to be a better human and business owner. My biggest weakness is giving myself time for myself. I have heaps of mom guilt.  The conference actually has a couple of hikes that I’m hoping to take to try and unwind and put physical activity back in my life.  I just have the hardest time not working and doing something for myself. My goal is to get better about taking care of myself with adding in exercise like I used to.  I used to go running EVERY day.  I would run at a minimum 2 miles. I would wake up before work and just go.

Back to the optical…we found a lens that we are in the process of testing to see if it outstrips the normal progressive.   The lens design is completely different so you don’t get that narrowing of vision when you get to intermediate distances.   It’s supposed to give natural vision similar to a single vision lens but you get all distances.  It is supposed to be particularly good for sports like golfing and feel like a single vision lens.  There are no non-adapts with it, meaning it’s so easy to get used to you don’t have the distortion on the sides, the head movements, etc.  Before we offer it as this revolutionary product we are testing it out with real people so see if it is everything it promises to be. It is still in our testing phase and it will be several weeks before it passes but if this BrightSide Allvision Sports Lens passes muster, I would be ecstatic.  We’ll keep you updated.

We are always in search of the latest and greatest. Constant And Never-Ending improvement is what we strive for.

In other news, we have made the difficult decision to end our contract with Vision Service Plan at the end of the year.  I’ll write out a more detailed post as to why in the near future.  For now I’ll just say that with rising costs of employees, rent, and cost of goods, it’s very difficult to accept and still give the level of service and care we would like to.

Be sure to use your benefits before the end of the year!  We would love our current patients to stay with us through the transition and wanted to give you plenty of prep time.  We’ll be sending a very lengthy statement as to all the reasons why we have chosen to make this decision. We have not taken it lightly.

From now until the end of the year we are running an amazing multiple pair sale!  This is the time to expand your eyewear wardrobe.  One pair of glasses usually doesn’t match every outfit in your closet and every occassion you are going to attend.  Need task glasses, this is the time!  Make sure to ask our opticians when you are in.  You could get up to 35% off!*  They will fill you in on all the details as to what qualifies.

Also, for any frame purchased from now till the end of the year we’ll donate a frame to Half Helen.*  Half Helen is a local organization in town that gives free eye exam to children in underserved populations.
