Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is also known as corneal reshaping therapy.

Ortho K is one form of myopia management that we offer at Westlake Hills Vision Center.  It is a nonsurgical myopia treatment option that has been proven on nearly 2 million eyes around the world. Similar to a custom dental retainer worn overnight to correct teeth, Ortho K lenses work to gently reshape the cornea and correct vision while a patient sleeps.

It’s definitely amazing to be free of glasses without surgery. This treatment is only available for a small range of prescriptions. Generally for people with mild to moderate near-sightedness and only a slight amount of astigmatism.

Ortho-K services in Austin, Texas

In order to maintain clear vision a patient has to continue to sleep in the lenses indefinitely. After the initial insertion and removal training  we check patients after 1 week, 1 month, and at 6 months. The lenses are replaced and refitted once a year.

Orthokeratology (Ortho K) has been shown to, on average, slow myopia by slightly less than 50%

Fees:  We have a global fee that covers the entire year  of visits, a set of lenses, and the cost of an eye exam.  For this therapy we do not bill to insurance fees range from $1200 to $2000 per patient.
