Understanding our Decision to Discountinue VSP

We wanted to be open and transparent in our decision to no longer be accept VSP insurance as of January 1, 2024. This decision was made after careful consideration, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

To assist you in filing out-of-network claims with VSP or other vision insurance companies, we have partnered with Anneagram starting Jan 1st 2024, a patient advocacy organization that specializes in helping patients navigate complex insurance issues. Anneagram’s services are available to you at no cost, and they can help you with the following:

  • Understanding your VSP/vision insurance out-of-network coverage
  • Completing out-of-network claim forms
  • Filing out-of-network claims with VSP/vision insurance
  • Appealing denials of out-of-network claims

We have chosen to discontinue our affiliation with VSP due to their ongoing practices that we believe are detrimental to both our patients and our practice.

VSP’s reimbursement rates for our services often fall well below our actual costs, making it difficult for us to maintain our high standards of care. This financial strain ultimately impacts the quality of services we can provide to our patients.

With rising costs of living and inflation, it is hard to run a business and compensate employees well when reimbursement rates have not been raised in almost 30 years.

VSP’s response to our concerns has been to suggest that we increase the number of patients we see. However, we believe that this solution is not in the best interests of our patients. When we see too many patients, we are unable to provide each patient with the individualized attention and care they deserve. This can lead to missed opportunities for preventive care, not addressing every issue a patient has, and ultimately, poorer health outcomes.

We are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality of care, and we cannot do that under VSP’s current reimbursement rates and policies. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue our affiliation with VSP.

We understand that this change may affect your insurance coverage. We offer several payment options, including Care Credit and our in-house payment plans, to accommodate your financial needs.

We encourage you to maximize your VSP benefits before the end of the year. We remain dedicated to providing you with exceptional care, and we hope that you will continue to visit us after January 1st, even without VSP coverage.

If you have any questions or concerns about this change, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you make the best decisions for your healthcare needs.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
