We are so excited to have Julie on board as our optical manager and as the creative director for our optical inventory. Julie has over 30 year of experience in the industry and is very familiar with unique, independent eyewear. Originally from Minnesota, Julie moved to Austin 6 years ago. Her previous experience in Austin was at Santa Fe optical so she’s no stranger to amazing eyewear.
Julie has a true passion for eyewear and is leading the way in bringing in niche eyewear lines. Since starting she has brought in Gotti a delicate swiss line that can be more minimal or customized to be more daring. Oprah wears one of there frames. She also brought on board Matisse, a hand-painted line with beautiful colors.
We are excited to let Julie lead the way in the optical and take our frame selection to the next level.
Julie really knows her stuff. Woman can frame style anyone and make you have an amazing experience and fall in love with glasses. Hate glasses? She’s your girl. Her passion and ability to find a frame to fit any face, situation, and attitude is uncanny. She provides a tailored experience for clients so they know they are taken care of.
In Julie’s own words here is her bio below:
“Hi, I am Julie…and I am unbelievably happy to have landed at Westlake Hills Vision Center with Dr Elizondo and our awesome crew.
If you haven’t met me at another optical here in Westlake, let me tell you a little bit about me.
I moved here 6 years ago with my lovely husband David and our beloved aussie Tuesday. We have a slight obsession with Australian shepherds. I digress… We live in Briarcliff and love the country life. The two things I am missing here tho are our adult boys..one in Lubbock and the other in Minneapolis.
Our move was from the north, Minn-E-soooota. You may hear my accent sneak out with certain words and if you ask I can do your entire appointment sounding like the movie Fargo.
Since 1984, I have been in the optical industry. Honing and perfecting my skills to make the chore of choosing eyewear easy peasy… loaded with laughs and my honest opinion to make you look fabulous. My belief in fine eyewear and lenses started many years ago when I was working in Minneapolis at a pediatric office. Realizing children were in dire need for great eyewear and I found my calling. I helped design lines and colorways for many manufacturers and also did public speaking for ophthalmologists and optometrists regarding children’s eyewear and fit.
After we moved here I struggled to find a place that could utilize my skill set. I wanted to help fit, but also design and purchase the frames so I could take pride in selling them to all my favorite clients.
I sure do hope to see y’all soon…doncha know.”
